Sorry for the belated festive message folks. I’ve had a few days away in Bukit Lawang, Indonesia and actually spent Christmas day hand washing elephants! Not the normal sitting around the TV stuffing my face with turkey and chocolates kind of day that I was used to back in the UK.
Boxing day was spent trekking through the jungle on an overnight trip where we took in the scenery and got very close to some Orangutans! It’s amazing how quickly you can skip down a muddy, deeply rooted jungle slope when an Orangutan is chasing after you wanting a hug! It was stunning to see these amazing animals so close up and their sad diminishing numbers across Indonesia due to deforestation does make the odd missed 3 foot putt seem pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
I’m back in KL now continuing the practice and preparation for Asian Tour Qualifying School which is coming up. No partying for me over New Year, I’ve been too busy beating balls and getting ready to fly to Bangkok on the 3rd of January before driving over to Hua Hin.
I hope you all had a great festive period, wherever you are and whatever you’re getting up to. I’d just like to start the new year by thanking all my friends, family and sponsors for their much needed support throughout 2011. Here’s to a great 2012 for us all.
